Bitvavo delists SWEAT: what about my coins?
Bitvavo delists SWEAT on 7 October; ICX is converted into euros by 12 October. What delisting means, how much time you get and what you can do about it.

Bitvavo is dropping SWEAT, the token of the movement app Sweatcoin, on Wednesday 7 October. Deposits close at 1pm CEST, trading at 2pm and withdrawals at 3pm. Whatever is still in your account after that, Bitvavo will automatically convert into euros by 15 October at the latest, at a rate it does not guarantee. If you want to keep your SWEAT, send it to a wallet of your own or another exchange before 3pm.
Why SWEAT is disappearing
Bitvavo gives no reason. The Sweat Foundation itself announced in early October that Sweat Wallet and the SWEAT token will stop in their current form on 30 December 2026. The foundation cites the long decline of the crypto market, the loss of listings on exchanges, the cost of a security incident in April 2026 (after which all balances were restored) and slower growth in the number of new users.
The Sweatcoin app will keep working as normal. The token will continue to exist on NEAR and on the EVM networks it has been bridged to. Unclaimed balances will go to NEAR accounts; details follow in early December.
Where you can still trade SWEAT for euros
Worldwide, there were two markets for SWEAT against the euro: on Bitvavo and on Kraken. After 7 October, only Kraken remains. Kraken has not committed to keeping it that way, and in September it delisted 21 small tokens itself. Kraken is a partner of ours; you can read more about that in our explainer on the Kraken cashback.
If you move your SWEAT elsewhere, choose a network the recipient supports. SWEAT exists on more than one blockchain, and a transfer over the wrong network is lost. Send a small amount first and check that it arrives.
ICX: only the conversion is still pending
On 2 October Bitvavo dropped ICON (ICX). Trading and withdrawals are closed; whatever remains will be converted into euros by Monday 12 October at the latest. Don’t deposit any more ICX to Bitvavo: such a deposit will not be processed and may be lost.
How much time do you get with a delisting?
That varies considerably between exchanges. Bitvavo allows one hour between the end of trading and the end of withdrawals. Kraken stopped trading in 21 tokens on 11 September, but withdrawals remain possible there until 10 December.
How a delisting works at Bitvavo
Bitvavo announces it by email, on its blog or on X, and then sends a reminder. Four steps follow: deposits close, trading stops and open orders are cancelled, withdrawals close, and whatever is left is converted into euros where possible. The rate for that conversion depends on the market at that moment and is not guaranteed.
In making the decision, Bitvavo looks at user interest, the commitment of the team behind a project, trading volume and liquidity, the security of the network or contract, and signs of unethical behaviour or negligence.
What you can do
Sell before trading stops. That way you choose the moment yourself and see the rate before you sell.
Withdraw to a wallet of your own or another exchange. First check that the recipient supports both the coin and the network. With a small balance, the withdrawal fee may be more than the amount you transfer.
Do nothing. Then the exchange converts it into euros. In a thin market that rate can turn out considerably lower; Kraken warns about this for its own delisting too.
An automatic conversion counts as a sale. What that means for your tax depends on the country where you pay tax.
How to see it coming
Turn on notifications from your exchange; a delisting is announced by email. With coins that have little volume on your exchange, factor in this risk: Bitvavo itself names volume and liquidity as a reason. And a coin you want to hold for years can also be kept in self-custody, so a delisting only costs you a place to trade. You can compare exchanges on fees, authorisation and range of coins in our comparison.
Frequently asked questions
What does delisting mean?
That an exchange removes a coin from its platform. You can then no longer buy, sell or deposit it there, and after a deadline you can no longer withdraw it either.
Do I lose my coins if they are delisted?
Not if you sell or withdraw in time. If you do nothing, the exchange converts them into euros at the market rate at that moment. That rate may be low.
Can I still trade SWEAT for euros after 7 October?
Yes, on Kraken. After Bitvavo leaves, it is the only market for SWEAT against the euro.
Times in CEST unless stated otherwise. Sources last checked on 6 October 2026.
