The story
Bitaxe.de has been online since March 2023 and calls itself the first European shop for open-source home miners; according to the shop, it has since supplied more than 5,000 home miners. Behind the German-language shop is Nanohash from Tallinn, Estonia. The range centres on the Bitaxe family and the larger Nerdaxe, NerdQaxe and NerdOctaxe models, from a 1.3 TH/s Bitaxe Gamma for €139 to a water-cooled 14 TH/s NerdOctaxe Hydro for €799, alongside Canaan's Avalon Nano 3s, coolers and nodes. Orders ship with UPS from a warehouse in the EU, so without import duties, and prices are in euros including VAT. The shop also runs free tools for home miners: its own solo pool with 0% fees on servers in Frankfurt and a web flasher for firmware. The downside: popular models are regularly sold out or only available on backorder, the warranty is the statutory one with no extra commitment, and damage from overclocking or your own changes to hardware or firmware is excluded. And a home miner of this size is a lottery miner: plan around your power costs, not around earnings.
