Home miners compared: where to buy them and what they earn
Which home miner you can buy from which partner, with which discount code, and what it earns: electricity, the odds of a block of your own and heat, calculated live at today's price. You see the price at the shop itself; it changes too often to keep up with here.
per kWh; defaults to the average household price according to Eurostat
The five shops
Each shop charges differently: with or without VAT, in euros or dollars, from inside the EU or outside it. That rarely changes; price and stock are on the shop's own site.

What you are really buying
A lottery ticket
A Bitaxe Gamma finds a block of its own about once every 16,000 years. It does happen: on 10 July 2026 a Bitaxe found block 957,382, worth 3.14 BTC. Buy one because you enjoy those odds, not because you expect them to pay out.
A small heater
Every watt a miner draws comes out as heat. A 140-watt Avalon Nano 3S warms a small room, so in winter you are partly paying for that electricity anyway.
A hobby
In an ordinary pool a home miner earns less than its electricity costs. What you get back is a device you set up yourself, your own node or pool if you want to go further, and a grasp of how bitcoin works.
Where the figures come from
- Specifications: from the maker or the open-source project; where they are silent, from the shop. The source is listed with each device.
- Which shop sells what: their own product pages, checked in full on 15 October 2026. A weekly check flags any page that disappears.
- Electricity: Eurostat, households, second half of 2025, including taxes. ec.europa.eu
- Earnings and odds: price and network hashrate from our own database (1 October 2026), block subsidy 3.125 BTC, before transaction and pool fees.
- Solo blocks: mempool.space, live. mempool.space
Questions
Why are there no prices?
Home miner prices change every week, and offers come and go. A price that lags behind here is worse than no price. So this page shows what rarely changes (who sells it, with which code, with or without VAT), and you see the current price at the shop itself.
Which home miner suits me?
If you mainly want a lottery ticket and low power draw: a Bitaxe Gamma or Nerdaxe Gamma, around 20 watts. If you want heat in the house: an Avalon Nano 3S (140 watts) or Avalon Mini 3 (800 watts). If you want more hashrate without the noise of an industrial miner: a NerdQaxe++ or NerdOctaxe.
Will a home miner pay for itself?
Not in an ordinary pool: a Bitaxe Gamma mines less bitcoin than it costs in electricity. It only pays for itself if it finds a block of its own, and the odds are small. Treat a home miner as a hobby, a heater or a lottery ticket.
Why does MineShop look cheaper?
MineShop lists prices excluding VAT; your country's VAT is added at checkout. Compare the amount at checkout, not the first figure you see.
Do I pay import VAT at Crypto Miner Bros?
Yes. Crypto Miner Bros ships from Hong Kong and states that its prices exclude VAT and import duties. When the parcel enters the EU you pay VAT, usually with the carrier's handling fee on top.
