Kraken Prop multi-account trading: how it works
Kraken Desktop copies your trade to all your Prop accounts. What it does, what it costs and why one losing trade counts on every account.

Since 20 October 2026, Kraken Desktop lets you place one trade on several Kraken Prop accounts at once. You pick a leader account and one or more follower accounts, and Desktop places the same order on each of them. You need at least two active Prop accounts and Kraken Desktop 1.30.0 or newer. The feature costs nothing extra, but you take every losing trade on all accounts at the same time.
Multi-account trading in short
- What it does: you place a trade on the leader account and Desktop places the same trade on every follower account you choose. Entries, stop-loss, take-profit and OTO orders are copied. Amending, cancelling and closing a position also pass from the leader to the followers.
- What you need: at least two active Kraken Prop accounts (evaluation or funded) and Kraken Desktop 1.30.0 or newer.
- Your own accounts only: it works across your own Prop accounts. Kraken says it is not copy trading with other traders.
- Two ways of scaling: Exact (each follower takes the same quantity as the leader) or Proportional (the position scales with the follower’s balance relative to the leader).
- Free, but desktop only: according to Kraken, the feature is included in Kraken Desktop at no extra cost. It is not yet available on web or mobile, and the settings are stored on the computer where you create them.
- Not a hedging tool: all followers trade in the same direction as the leader. According to Kraken, hedging between Prop accounts breaks the Kraken Prop terms.
How to turn it on
According to Kraken’s announcement of 20 October 2026, it works in four steps:
- Update Kraken Desktop to version 1.30.0 or newer.
- Check that you have at least two active Prop accounts.
- Open the menu at the top right and choose Multi-account trading.
- Choose the leader account, the follower accounts and the way of scaling.
The announcement also says what happens when a trade does not fit an account: Desktop skips that account and writes the reason in the activity log of your trades. The other accounts carry on trading. If the leader account exceeds its loss limit (“breached”), copying stops.
Exact or Proportional: a worked example
The difference lies in how much risk each account takes. Kraken gives this example itself: a $100,000 leader and a $25,000 follower take the same trade, which produces a $2,000 loss.
With Exact, the small account therefore loses four times as much relative to its own balance. With Proportional, the percentage is the same for both accounts.
What this means for the loss limit
According to the plans page (read on 7 November 2026), Kraken Prop has a maximum daily loss of 3% for all plans and sizes, and a maximum drawdown that differs by plan: 6% for Starter, 5% for Intermediate and 3% for Advanced. For Starter accounts, the page shows it like this:
If you put a $25,000 follower on Exact in the example above, the $2,000 loss is more than the $750 maximum daily loss for that account. The announcement does not explain exactly how Kraken measures the daily loss, so this is a comparison of numbers, not a statement about what Kraken would do. It does show what Kraken itself advises: check the drawdown limits of every follower before you turn the feature on, because you take a losing trade on every account at once.
A second worked example, using our own figures: if you have a $100,000 account and a $25,000 account, both Starter, the two evaluations cost $1,015 together ($800 and $215). If one trade loses on both, you lose the cost of both evaluations: Kraken says evaluation fees are not refunded once trading has started.
What it is not
- Not copy trading of others. You only copy between your own Prop accounts.
- Not a way to spread risk. Every follower follows the leader in the same direction. Having several accounts means more money in the same position, not less risk.
- Not a safety net. If a trade drops out on one account, the others carry on. What happens on one account does not decide what the others do.
- Not a guarantee of profit. Kraken itself says most applicants do not pass their first attempt.
What does this mean for you as a European trader?
Not a regulated product. According to Kraken itself, Kraken Prop is “an unregulated service”. For what that means for the protection you are used to as a European investor, read is prop trading reliable?.
Availability. The blog names no countries and says that geographical restrictions may apply. Kraken states on its support page that Kraken Prop is not available in India and Canada. Which rules apply in your country is set out in Kraken’s legal information.
Tax. A payout from prop trading is taxed differently in each country. See our guide to prop trading and tax.
Which plan suits multiple accounts? For how Kraken Prop compares with Funded and Breakout, read Kraken Prop, Funded or Breakout: the three routes compared. What a trade costs, including commission and financing costs, is covered in Kraken Prop: gold and other commodities at half commission. A Kraken Prop discount code for an evaluation with our offer is on the offer page; if you buy through our link, we receive a fee and you pay nothing extra.
What is not certain yet
- The maximum number of accounts. The blog names no upper limit.
- How the daily loss is counted for copied orders. The blog does not explain whether a copied trade is treated differently from an ordinary one, and the support article “What is Kraken Prop?” does not cover it. Check the rules of the plan you choose.
- Which countries. The blog names none; the support page names only India and Canada as countries where Kraken Prop is not available.
- Web and mobile. Kraken says the feature works on Desktop only; it does not say whether or when it will come to web or mobile.
This article is not investment advice. Trading with leverage can quickly lead to losses, and you do not get the cost of an evaluation back.
