MiCA authorisations: which crypto providers are licensed?
The MiCA transitional period ended on 1 July 2026: anyone offering crypto services in the EU needs a MiCA authorisation as a crypto-asset service provider (CASP) or, as a bank or investment firm, must have notified its regulator. Below, per provider: which legal entity is authorised, by which regulator, since when, and exactly which services that authorisation covers — for our partners and for providers we earn nothing from. All of it straight from the public ESMA register, not from press releases.

Notification (Art. 60 MiCA). Banks, investment firms and certain other institutions that already hold an authorisation do not need a separate CASP authorisation. They notify their crypto services to their competent authority in advance (Art. 60 MiCA) and then appear in the same ESMA register.
The ESMA file held 387 entries on 22 October 2026: authorisations and notifications together, merged here into one row per legal entity. If a provider is not listed, that says nothing about authorisation: ESMA updates the register with a delay. Check with the regulator in its home country.
Why this matters
An authorisation means supervision: capital requirements, safeguarding of client assets, complaint handling and disclosure rules. It does not mean your money is guaranteed — crypto is not covered by a deposit guarantee scheme. And an authorisation only covers the services listed in it; anything beyond falls under a different regime, or none at all.
