Bitcoin holds 65,000 dollars as BlackRock keeps buying

Bitcoin trades at its highest level in three weeks. BlackRock added 139 million dollars while a wallet dormant for eight years moved 5,908 BTC — without spooking the market.

Bitcoin spent Thursday hovering between 64,500 and 65,000 dollars (roughly €56,400 to €56,800), its highest level in roughly three weeks. After months of choppy trading, the market finally looks willing to defend higher ground instead of selling every rally.

Institutional demand remains a key pillar of the recovery. BlackRock added another 139 million dollars (roughly €122 million) worth of bitcoin to its holdings, bringing the iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) to more than 733,000 BTC in custody. CEO Larry Fink struck a notably optimistic tone this week, saying excess leverage has been washed out and that current price levels look more stable than before.

Whale wallet wakes up after eight years

Notable on-chain news too: a wallet inactive for eight years moved about 5,908 BTC (roughly 383 million dollars, or about €335 million) to a fresh address — without touching an exchange. The market barely reacted, a sign investors read the transfer as a reshuffle rather than an imminent sale.

What does this mean for the price?

Analysts note bitcoin is approaching the short-term holder realized price, a zone that has historically produced resistance as recent buyers exit at break-even. At the same time, those levels have often marked the start of longer accumulation phases rather than the end of a recovery.

Softer-than-expected US inflation data earlier this week gave crypto room to climb. The next catalyst sits in Washington: tomorrow's Clarity Act hearing could set the tone for the rest of the summer.
