US spot ETFs drew $1.92 billion last week, the strongest week since October 2025. What that does and does not mean for a European buyer.

US spot bitcoin ETFs pulled in $1.92 billion in net inflows last week. That is the strongest week since October 2025, when $3.42 billion came in. Bitcoin briefly passed $79,000 on Friday, after a week that started near $63,000.

Measured in euros the price did the same: from €55,662 at the close on 17 August to a high of €67,931 on Friday 21 August.

What is actually being measured

That $1.92 billion is money that went into US listed funds, not money that bought bitcoin on an exchange. The difference matters. An ETF issuer buys the bitcoin behind the inflow, so there is a link — but the figure measures demand from American investors through their broker, not demand worldwide.

For a Dutch or Belgian reader there is another difference, and it is the important one: you cannot buy these funds here. The US spot ETFs are not available to European retail investors. Anyone in Europe wanting exposure buys bitcoin itself from an authorised provider, or looks at a European-listed product with its own cost structure.

What you can do with it

This inflow is mainly a signal about sentiment, not an instruction. It says American institutional money stepped in harder last week than in ten months. It says nothing about what the price does next week, and it certainly does not say you should buy now.

What is worth knowing before you act: on 22 August bitcoin traded between €60,100 and €67,406 within a single day. More than €7,300 of range, in one day. That is the real risk measure of this market, and an inflow figure from another continent does not change it.

This is not investment advice. Crypto is risky and you can lose what you put in.
