Buying Bitcoin in the Netherlands with iDEAL: step by step

Step 1: Choose a regulated platform

You buy Bitcoin on an exchange: a platform where you buy and sell crypto with euros. For Dutch users, it is important to choose a party that is supervised (think of the European MiCA rules), supports iDEAL and is user-friendly. Compare the options on our comparison page.

Step 2: Create an account and verify

After creating an account, you go through a short verification (KYC): you confirm your identity with an ID document. This is legally required and protects you and the platform against abuse. Usually you are done within a few minutes.

Step 3: Deposit euros via iDEAL

Once your account is approved, you deposit euros. Choose iDEAL as the payment method, log in with your own bank and confirm the payment. The money is usually credited to your account immediately — just as familiar as a normal online purchase.

Step 4: Buy your first Bitcoin

Now the fun part. You can choose from:

• Market order: you buy directly at the current price. Fast and simple.
