A turnaround is visible at the US spot bitcoin ETFs. In the trading week ending 10–11 July, a net 197 million dollars (roughly €172 million) flowed into the funds — ending an eight-week outflow streak in which more than 8 billion dollars (roughly €7 billion) left the ETFs since May.

Why this is more than a data point

ETF flows have proven to be the best gauge of institutional demand this cycle. The months of outflows coincided with bitcoin's slide from the spring highs to the June lows; the return of inflows suggests large players are starting to see current levels — around 62,000 dollars (roughly €54,000) — as an entry opportunity again.

One week does not make a trend. But the last time a long outflow streak broke (early July, after ten days), a period of stabilisation followed. Two broken streaks in two weeks is at the very least a sign that selling pressure is draining from the market.

The context: fearful sentiment, buying whales

The contrast with sentiment is striking. The Fear & Greed Index still sits in extreme fear, while on-chain data show large holders accumulating — whales bought record amounts in June and July. Historically, that combination — fearful sentiment plus institutional and whale accumulation — is more often a hallmark of bottom formation than of tops.

What does this mean for you?

Nothing in this data is a buy signal by itself. It does confirm a broader pattern we have described for weeks: weak hands are out, strong hands are buying. Periodic buyers need to do nothing; those waiting for an entry point have one more data point.
