While Bitcoin holds its ground this week in a range of roughly €54,800 to €56,100, Ethereum clearly lags behind. ETH trades around €1,490 and has yet to make up the loss from the sell-off earlier this week.

Dominance tells the story

The market's balance is clearly readable from the dominance figures. Bitcoin dominance rose to around 56.4%, while Ethereum's share of total market value sank toward 8.9%. The total crypto market is currently worth around €1.97 trillion.

That pattern — Bitcoin stable, altcoins under pressure — fits a classic flight to safety: in uncertain weeks, investors prefer to park their money in the largest and most liquid crypto asset.

A slight uptick after Iran news

On Friday morning, incidentally, the market bounced broadly after geopolitical tensions around Iran appeared to ease; Bitcoin opened more than 3% higher. But even with that uptick, the picture for Ethereum remains relatively weak: the recovery is concentrated mainly in Bitcoin.

What are analysts watching?

For a real turnaround in Ethereum, market watchers are looking at two things:

  • Inflows into ETH products: as long as capital mainly flows toward Bitcoin products, the dominance ratio stays skewed
  • Network activity: continued growth in the number of active addresses and Layer 2 usage can lay the foundation for a recovery

Until then: the market is moving, but not equally hard for everyone.
