MineShop sells mining hardware from €19.87 for an ESP32 solo miner to €89,999.87 for a cooling container. The sharpest thing on that site is not a price but a passage in its own FAQ: at an electricity price of €0.30 per kilowatt-hour, home mining generally does not add up, and at €0.20 only the most efficient models break even. That is the seller saying it, not a critic.

Who the seller is

Mining Hardware Limited, Irish company number 596721, VAT number IE 3454456JH, based in Dundalk and online since 2016. The shop serves the whole European Union and prices include VAT.

What the hardware costs

ProductHashratePrice
ESP32 solo minernot stated€19.87
WhatsMiner M61208 TH/s€1,199.87
Antminer S21+ Hydro395 TH/s€6,199.87
Cooling containernot applicable€89,999.87

There is a factor of 4,500 between the cheapest and the most expensive item. That is not a range aimed at one kind of buyer: the solo miner is a learning device with a negligible chance of a block, the container is industrial equipment.

The electricity bill, using the seller's own figures

MineShop puts consumption for a home miner at 1,200 to 4,000 watts, continuously. Take the middle of that range, 3,000 watts: that is 72 kilowatt-hours per day. At €0.30 per kilowatt-hour that comes to €21.60 a day, or €648 per thirty days. Multiply by your own tariff; that is the only sum that counts.

Then there is noise. The shop puts home models at 40 to 55 decibels and industrial models at 65 to 80. The second category does not belong in a house, and the first is not background noise in a bedroom either.

What a miner costs in your situation, and what the heat it gives off is worth in your home, is something you work out with the heat calculator, where you enter your own electricity price. Background on how mining works, and who it is and is not for, is on the mining hub.

We name no return and no payback period, and neither does the shop: MineShop states in its own terms that it guarantees no mining returns and no profitability.

Shipping

To all EU countries, by DHL Express or FedEx. VAT is included and no import duties arise within the Union. Express takes one to two days, economy two to six. The rate depends on country, weight and chosen service and becomes visible only just before checkout; we could not establish an amount.

Returns and warranty

Fourteen days to return, but only for unopened items in their original sealed packaging. Sending back an ASIC because you changed your mind is not accepted. Weigh that up: at these amounts the order is in practice final once the box is open.

A unit that arrives faulty must be reported within three days. The warranty runs through the manufacturer, not the shop: MineShop itself states three to twelve months depending on the brand. There is no shop warranty on top of it.

Payment

Credit or debit card up to €5,000, bank transfer without that ceiling, or bitcoin, bitcoin cash, litecoin, ethereum, DAI and USDC via Coinbase Commerce.

Frequently asked questions

Can I return a miner if it disappoints?

Only unopened and sealed, within fourteen days. Once the packaging is open, the shop will not take the device back as a change of mind.

Who gives the warranty on an ASIC?

The manufacturer. MineShop states three to twelve months depending on the brand and offers no additional cover itself.

Do I pay import duties?

Not within the European Union, and prices include VAT. Shipping costs are added; you see the amount only just before checkout.

Is home mining profitable?

That depends entirely on your electricity price, and MineShop guarantees nothing about it. At €0.30 per kilowatt-hour it generally does not add up, according to the shop itself. Work it out with the heat calculator before you order anything.

What we could not establish

  • The shipping rate as an amount. It is calculated only in the last step of the order process.
  • Whether any charge is withheld on an accepted return, and if so how much.
  • Exactly which countries are served. The shop mentions more than thirty countries without listing them.
