Ethereum's exit queue drops to zero as staking demand peaks
The queue of validators waiting to unstake their ETH has fallen to zero, while around 2.4 million ETH is lined up to start staking. A strong signal of confidence — and potentially favourable for the ETH price.
Something striking is happening on the Ethereum network. The exit queue — validators wanting to withdraw their staked ETH (unstake) — has dropped to zero. At the same time, data shows around 2.4 million ETH in the entry queue: capital waiting to be staked.
What exactly is going on?
With staking, you lock up ETH to help secure the network in exchange for a yield. Those who want out join an exit queue; those who want in join an entry queue. An empty exit queue means almost no one wants to unstake right now — while the line to get in is long.
From outflow to inflow
The contrast with last year is stark. In September 2025, more than 2.6 million ETH sat in the exit queue: a wave of validators heading for the door. That picture has now completely flipped toward inflow.
Why it matters
Analysts see it as a sign of strong confidence in ETH staking, with a notable return of institutional players. More ETH locked in staking usually means less supply that can be sold immediately — a factor that can support the price.
Caveat
Queues move with the market: they can flip back just as fast. An empty exit queue is a snapshot, not a guarantee. And note: staking is not risk-free — your ETH is locked, the price moves, and running a validator carries technical risk (slashing). In the EU, providers' staking services also fall under regulators' watch via MiCA.
