Finst review 2026: 0.15% with no spread, AFM authorisation, and the conditions
Finst charges 0.15% per transaction with no added spread and has been in the ESMA register with an AFM authorisation since 24 July 2025, valid in 30 countries. What the authorisation covers, who can open an account and what it costs, with sources.
Finst charges 0.15% of the transaction amount, and its own fee page adds: "No added spread." On €100 you pay €0.15, and nothing more. Finst B.V. has been in the ESMA register with an authorisation from the Dutch regulator AFM since 24 July 2025, passported to 30 countries. Below are the facts you need, including the condition not everyone meets.
What a purchase costs
The fee is 0.15% of the amount, with no spread on top. That is the difference with most beginner apps: at BLOX it is 0.25% plus spread, and the spread is not fixed anywhere. At Finst you know in advance what you pay. At €100 a month, the difference with BLOX is at least €1.20 a year in fixed fees, plus whatever BLOX's spread adds.
Our comparison puts all providers side by side on fees and authorisation.
What the authorisation covers
In the ESMA register (as of 21 August 2026), Finst B.V. holds an authorisation from the Autoriteit Financiële Markten since 24 July 2025 for four services: custody and administration of crypto-assets, execution of orders, reception and transmission of orders, and transfer services. That combination is a broker's: your order is executed, not traded against Finst's own book. The passport covers 30 countries, which puts Finst among the partners with the widest reach in our MiCA register. How Finst obtained the authorisation is in Finst and MiCA.
Who can open an account
This is the condition that is missing from many reviews. Finst only accepts private customers who are "older than 18 years", who are "resident in the European Union" and who hold a euro account "at a bank or credit institution in the European Union". Anyone living outside the EU, or with only a non-European bank account, cannot get in, even though the passport covers 30 countries. Business accounts fall outside this rule and are a separate process.
Under 18 it is not possible, not even via a parent; see Buying crypto under 18.
Who Finst suits
If you buy regularly and want to keep costs down, Finst works out cheaper than an app with a spread. If you are looking for an order book, leverage or derivatives, this is the wrong place: the authorisation is that of a broker with custody, and that is exactly what the platform is. For a first purchase or a monthly contribution that is an advantage rather than a shortcoming.
Offer via Cryptocode
You can open an account through our Finst page. Cryptocode receives a fee if you open an account through that link; it does not change the 0.15% rate. The terms and the date they were checked are on that page.
